Carina van Niekerk is admitted as an attorney in North Gauteng and the Western Cape High Courts, specialising in commercial litigation, insolvency law and business turnaround and also advise on corporate and commercial matters.

She holds B.Com (Law) and LLB degrees (RAU) as well as postgraduate diplomas in insolvency law and practice (cum laude) (UJ), corporate law (cum laude) (UJ), advanced corporate and securities law (UNISA) and is currently busy with her LLM in corporate law (UJ).

She was formerly with the firms Tabacks and Brooks and Brand in Johannesburg where she was trained by Alec Brooks, a well known attorney and insolvency law expert. She moved on to Eversheds in Sandton thereafter, where she practiced until she relocated to Cape Town to start practicing for her own account after working with Robyn Hey for a year.

Carina enjoys training others and has done freelance lecturing on corporate, commercial and insolvency law at UJ, Damelin, the Eversheds Law School, the Law Society of South Africa, the South African School for Paralegal Studies, the Black Lawyers' Association and at various workshops.

She is a member of INSOL International, a worldwide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialise in turnaround and insolvency as well as the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association (SARIPA). Carina also served on SARIPA's its National Council (2008-2012), Northern Regional Council (2008 to August 2010) and Western Cape Regional Council (October 2010 - 2012).
